Starvation mode is achieved through fasting or by decreasing your daily
caloric intake, and it begins with your body breaking down fat from the
most recent food you digested. Your body can resort to breaking down
your muscle mass during starvation mode because it does not possess the
energy from food calories to break down consumed or stored fat. You can
burn fat during starvation mode by increasing your muscle mass through
cardiovascular and weightlifting exercises. Your metabolism rate
typically decreases during starvation mode; however, you can raise it by
eating a light snack and exercising upon consumption of food to break
down more fat.
